Fairly Sorted should work for more ways of seeing, moving and understanding.
The service is being built toward WCAG 2.2 AA. This statement describes the current intent and the limitations that still need real-world testing.
What we design for
Core journeys use semantic headings, visible labels, keyboard-operable controls, clear focus states, sufficient contrast and plain-language instructions. Layouts are designed to reflow for small screens and browser zoom.
- Keyboard navigation and a skip link
- System light/dark preference plus a manual theme control
- Text alternatives for meaningful images
- Status and error messages exposed to assistive technology
- Reduced reliance on colour alone
Known limitations
The photo-detection review and swipe interactions are complex, highly visual controls. Alternative button controls are provided where possible, but these workflows still need testing with a broader range of screen readers, switch devices and magnification settings.
Generated descriptions can be inaccurate and must not be treated as authoritative image descriptions.
Compatibility and testing
Automated checks and keyboard review are part of development, but they do not replace testing by disabled users. Live device and assistive-technology coverage is still being expanded during the founding phase.
